Grape variety: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot

Classification: Cru Bourgeois

Alcohol: 13.5 vol.

Wine:

This Médoc Cru Bourgeois' very strong personality is intensified by the two main components of any wine that express its terroir: man and vintage. 2005's wonderful provisions have resulted in fruit quality and exceptional texture. The wine is sappy and the fruit crisp on the palate. The extreme ripeness of the grapes gives us the run of a rich, varied range of aromas with notes of wild berries, red fruit and blackcurrants. The great length on the palate completes the work with a stylish touch. This wine is very well made. Seductively Bordeaux.

Vinification:

Traditional vinification, aging in oak barrels for 12 to 14 months.

Color:

Deep, very dense garnet colour.

Nose:

Freshness and maturity combine on the nose, within lovely aromatic complexity: black fruit and candied prunes, liquorice, eucalyptus, vanilla bud.

Palate:

This very upstanding wine with long-lingering freshness boasts lovely substance and a well balanced stucture.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Roast beef or duck breast with cep or porcini mushrooms or Sarlat-style potatoes, saddle of lamb with herbs, rich pork stew, sheeps cheese.

Enjoy up to and including 2016

Located on the left bank of the Gironde in the Saint-Yzans district, Château Haut-Maurac's neighbour is Château Loudenne. Its 28 hectares extend over the Mazails "croupe" that overlooks the Gironde. Olivier Decelle, owner of Mas Amiel, is applying a mode of viticulture that requires putting the soil and the vine into perspective. He is supported and advised in this respect by a soil microbiologist, Claude Bourguignon.
